May Day

I love May Day. It is a special holiday for children because it is all about giving. We decorate lovely may baskets and fill them with flowers. When we deliver them to our neighbors, we try not to “get caught”. It is fun to think of the neighbors coming home and finding a beautiful bouquet on their door knob.

Sometimes children ask “Do I get a may basket?”. No. Today is about us celebrating our neighbors and giving something to them.

Some of them we don’t even know but we walk past their houses on the way to the park.

Monday we will dance and sing around the maypole in the park. Today we felt the joy of making people happy.  A few times a  person looked out the window and saw us, then came out, full of smiles to thank us.  But mostly, people will come home to flowers on their door and wonder who thought of them on this spring day.
